The new like culture
From Bloomberg Businessweek came a big change in the way of ‘liking’ in 2016. The like button is the fuel of Facebook and also very characteristic. Leah Pearlman of Facebook was the one who invented this button. Facebook became the first platform with the now famous like button. Facebook users clicked it 6 billion times a day in 2015. That was more often than how often people searched for a search on Google.
There was a lot of feedback about the like button, because some posts did not lend themselves to being liked. Think of sad messages for example. Giving a like would not be appropriate. Chris Cox from Facebook picked up on this and after much speculation the like button evolved into a reaction button. This made sure that Facebook users could react in 6 emotions instead
Facebook Recognition
Whether you are younger than 20, 20, 30, 40 or 50 years or older, you will probably know Facebook in some way or have experienced it telegram data . In order to create that recognizability about this big blue platform, I asked my colleagues from Frankwatching for their ‘Facebook memories’ with the question: what is typical Facebook for you?

The unwritten etiquette of whether or not to tag your friends in photos/videos, because yes, everyone could see it.

The photo albums with 80+ photos after every holiday that you shared with all your friends.
Sharing your relationship status. Are you single right now? In a relationship with? Is it ‘complicated’? Or maybe even engaged?
Share the smallest developments in your own life or those of your children.
Your parent who posted the ‘ugliest photo ever’ on their profile without consulting you.
Memories from the past that pop up and then repost them. Often with the text: Oh, how we were / we then small/sweet.

Evolution of social movements
Facebook thus became more than just an online address book. It grew into a platform where people shared their thoughts, ideas, and photos from their personal european union phone number lives on a daily basis. It also became a place of social change. Movements emerged on the platform, reaching a large audience. I will highlight three of them in this article.
Start Black Lives Matter Movement
Following the verdict of George Zimmerman, the Florida man who shot and killed a black teenager in 2012, Alizia Garza of Oakland posted a las plataformas están message on Facebook on July 13, 2013. Her sentence included the phrase “Black lives matter,” and it quickly became the rallying cry of the movement in the United States and later around the world.
