Where B2B sales and social selling are all about building a one-on-one relationship with a potential customer, people often opt for speed and large numbers. And this is noticeable. More and more often, organizations choose to send large numbers of messages to potential customers, whether or not automated. The idea behind this is understandable, but the recipient does notice it. These types of messages cause the conversion rate to decrease by the week. My big tip is to remain authentic and personal . It takes a bit more time, but the final sales output is many times whatsapp lead higher. And be honest, would you like it if someone wanted to build a relationship with you, and this turned out to be a bot?

ChatGPT dominates social media content

It was already rare: fun, relevant and authentic content written by salespeople. But now they too are falling for tools like ChatGPT. And this makes perfect sense. These tools write a piece of content in a few seconds that at first glance still seems good. Yet we see that the structures are starting to look more and more alike . And where you used to really recognize a salesperson in a text, we see the authenticity disappear. Does this mean that AI is a curse for B2B sales and social selling? Absolutely not: it is a wonderful development, but it is not yet being used well everywhere.

AI doubles the time available for building relationships

When we look at the average daily activity of a B2B salesperson, it can be divided into four categories: selling, preparation, administration and the importance of organic web traffic  escalations. The average B2B salesperson spends about 25 percent of his or her time on selling. The remaining 75 percent is divided between the other three categories. This is of course quite strange to see. Salespeople are good at selling and are hired for this, but they only actively spend a quarter of their time doing it. This is where AI makes the biggest impact, in my opinion.

If we analyze sales processes and apply AI technology in the right places, we see that the time left for selling can double. AI will of course continue to develop rapidly and this means that we will use aIt’s 2004. A time when ‘likes’ are still exchanged with a genuine smile on the street.
